ASIR AG4.5 three-component 4.5 Hz gimballed borehole seismometer

MidLine 4.5 Hz Borehole Seismometer – Gimballed

The AG4.5 is ASIR's readily deployed three-component 4.5 Hz gimballed borehole seismometer designed for high-resolution microseismic and earthquake monitoring in deep boreholes. Suitable for permanent or temporary installations to depths of up to 3000 m, the AG4.5 accommodates borehole deviations of up to 15° through its precision gimballed suspension. Combined with ASIR's mechanical hole-lock system, it provides reliable long-term monitoring for mining, geothermal energy, underground infrastructure, carbon storage (CCS), and scientific research projects.

Advanced Features

  • slim 61 mm outer diameter (OD)
  • passive sensors on damped gimbal
  • high tilt tolerance of up to 15°
  • for permanent or temporary installations

Application & Deployment

  • Small, 6 to 18 station, local monitoring network in up to 3000 m deep, < 15° tilted, boreholes
  • Station spaced 3 to 5 km apart for event locations to within 100 to 200 meters
  • Improves detection by 2 units of magnitude over surface networks, detecting and locating all M > ~ -0.5
